Rev. Dr. John Reid
coming as special guest speaker:
John Reid
DMin, MA (Theology), MEd (Adult), LTh, DipRE, DipPastStud, AAMF
Rev. Dr. John Reid will be speaking at our morning service on Sunday
20th April. John is currently a lecturer at the Baptist theological
college of NSW in Pastoral Studies. He joined the faculty of Morling
College after serving in 28 years of pastoral work. After graduation
from College John completed the Diploma of Pastoral Studies (MCD), MA
(Theology) (ACT), MEd (Adult) (UTS) and Doctor of Ministry from the San
Francisco Theological Seminary. John’s doctoral dissertation and Project
majored on Australian male mid-life spirituality.
John’s areas of teaching at Morling include ministry formation, patterns
for spiritual formation, contemporary trends in spirituality, pastoral
care, and introduction to Christian worship. He also teaches in the MA
and DMin programs at Morling, majoring in subjects related to ongoing
ministry formation and Christian spirituality.
John has been an active participant in the work of the Clinical Pastoral
Education Council of NSW both as a chaplain and a member of the Ethics
Review Committee. He worked with Lifecare Counselling Services as a part
time counsellor for eleven years and was a counsellor supervisor for two
years. He remains a member of the Australian Association of Relationship
Counsellors.
John has an active interest in cross-cultural mission. A former member
of the federal board of APCM which became Pioneers. John has also served
on the Evangelical Missionary Alliance Health Committee. He has served
as President of the Baptist Churches of NSW and ACT (2002-2003). He was
a long term member of the Baptist Churches Committee for the Ministry (CFM).
He presently does some spiritual mentoring with pastors both younger and
older. He leads patterns for spiritual formation retreats for small
groups. He and Janice are members of a small church plant in the
strategic suburb or Rouse Hill in Northwestern Sydney where they live.
John is married to Janice who works as a music teacher. They have four
married sons, three of whom are pastors and one is a renal specialist
nurse. Janice and John have five grand daughters and two grandsons.
